Our Commitment
Embassy Row Project is committed to ensuring that our crisis intelligence platform is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone should have equal access to decision-grade intelligence and analytical services, regardless of ability.
We strive to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. Our ongoing accessibility efforts include regular audits, user testing, and continuous improvements to ensure an inclusive experience for all users.
Accessibility Features
Our platform includes numerous accessibility features designed to support users with various needs:
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements on our platform are accessible via keyboard navigation. Users can navigate through the site using Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and arrow keys. Skip links are provided to bypass repetitive navigation and jump directly to main content. Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements to help users track their position on the page.
Screen Reader Compatibility
Our platform is designed to work with popular screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver. We use semantic HTML markup, ARIA labels, and proper heading hierarchy to ensure screen reader users can navigate and understand content effectively. All images include descriptive alt text, and form fields are properly labeled.
Visual Design
Our color palette maintains sufficient contrast ratios between text and backgrounds to meet WCAG AA standards. Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. We avoid using color alone to convey information, ensuring that all users can understand content regardless of color perception.
Content Structure
Pages are structured with clear headings, landmarks, and logical reading order. Breadcrumb navigation helps users understand their location within the site. Tables include proper headers and captions for screen reader users. Links are descriptive and indicate their destination.
Forms and Inputs
All form fields include visible labels and clear instructions. Error messages are descriptive and help users understand how to correct issues. Required fields are clearly indicated. Form validation provides immediate feedback without relying solely on color.
Assistive Technologies
Our platform has been tested with the following assistive technologies: JAWS screen reader on Windows, NVDA screen reader on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android, Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition, and various browser zoom and magnification tools.
Browser Compatibility
For the best accessible experience, we recommend using the latest versions of modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Our platform is designed to work with browser accessibility features such as zoom, high contrast modes, and reader modes.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some content may have limitations. Complex data visualizations and charts may not be fully accessible to screen reader users; we provide text alternatives where possible. Some third-party content embedded in our platform may not meet our accessibility standards. PDF documents generated by the platform may have varying levels of accessibility.
We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across all aspects of our platform.
Feedback and Support
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our platform. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us through our official contact form. When reporting an accessibility issue, please include the page URL where you encountered the problem, a description of the issue, the assistive technology you were using (if applicable), and your contact information so we can follow up.
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and will work to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
Alternative Access
If you are unable to access any content or functionality on our platform due to a disability, please contact us. We will work with you to provide the information or service you need through an alternative method that is accessible to you.
Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort at Embassy Row Project. We conduct regular accessibility audits, incorporate accessibility into our development process, train our team on accessibility best practices, and monitor and address accessibility issues as they are identified. We are committed to continuous improvement and ensuring that our platform remains accessible as we add new features and content.
